376 Castro Overview:

Currently home to an Arco gas station, this corner lot at the heart of the Castro district will one day become a mixed-use building with a community room and retail space on the ground floor with twenty four condominium homes above, making the development about six stories high (65 feet, to be precise). The building makes extensive use of glass, particularly for the homes on the Market/Castro corner. They will make an amazing perch above the heart of the Castro neighborhood.

There is ongoing litigation between the majority owners of the gas station and the developer, who owns a 10% stake in the site. Some neighbors have objected to the project, but the development has been approved by the city. Now, the suit between the developer and the majority owners is in the hands of Superior Court Judge Suzanne Bolanos. We’ll update this page as soon as we learn more.

Original renderings showed the building finished in stucco, but other websites and drawings indicate that the building exterior will be tiled in a pattern to give it a more modern look.

Size:

376 Castro will have both one and two bedroom homes, no studios or three bedroom homes. There will be on-site BMR/Inclusionary Housing homes.

  • Nineteen 2 bedroom homes

Amenities:

The building will have a roof deck, no other building amenities have been announced at this time.

Parking:

The building will have indoor garage parking. This project was entitled at a time when the maximum number of permissible spaces for a development of this size was 14 spaces, which means about 1/2 of the homes won’t come with a parking spot. To the best of my knowledge, the spots do not use mechanical stackers. There will also be parking for bicycles.
