72 Sales in April

April was a great month to be a seller in San Francisco

How was the month of April for condo buyers and sellers in South Beach, South of Market, Dogpatch, Mission Bay, and Yerba Buena? Overall, there were 73 sales reported in the MLS during the month of April, which is up slightly from the 69 condo homes sold during the same month in 2012. One of the sales was for a parking spot, though, so let's call it 72 sales! The most expensive sale was for a residence in the Millennium Tower, a 2 bed, 2.5 bath home in the Grand … [Read more...]

National Housing Market Picks up Steam

US Housing Prices, source: Quartz

According to the fine folks at Société Générale, the US housing market is on it's way up, up, and up. Which is excellent news after several rather painful years (which I'm sure I don't need to recount in excruciating detail for you) for condo owners and sellers. It is not secret that the San Francisco condo market has been on fire as of late, and I'm not surprised to hear that the national picture has finally shown strong and convincing evidence that it is on the … [Read more...]

Museum of Craft & Design – Now in the Dogpatch

Opening Exhibitions

I worked with some phenomenal clients last year who were amongst the first to move to South Beach before it became a destination neighborhood. Last year, they sold that home and moved to the Dogpatch. Not only are they incredibly delightful people, they've got an amazing sense for what and where is the next best thing. Given all the recent business openings, I think they were right again about the Dogpatch. I've written before about really cool and interesting new … [Read more...]

Well Hello, Bold Italic

Firehouse in Dogpatch

I ran across The Bold Italic when they wrote an article about their 2nd annual 3rd Base event in the Dogpatch neighborhood.  The event was a celebration of all that is awesome in the rapidly changing (you can use the G word if you want) Dogpatch/Central Waterfront neighborhood. I ended up spending more time on their site, and really kind of fell in love with their voice and style. So you can count me as a new follower. Perhaps their style will rub off and leave me a better … [Read more...]

Change. Count on It.

Pier 70 Site Concept. Image source: Forest City Development.

Mission Bay and the Central Waterfront of San Francisco are often referred to as two of San Francisco's "most dynamic" neighborhoods. Let me translate this for you into understandable English: dynamic = change. Mission Bay - in the not too distant past - was once home to nothing more than a railroad yard that paid homage to the days when San Francisco was an industrial manufacturing and shipping powerhouse. Now it is home to a biotech campus, housing, almost 50 acres of … [Read more...]

What You Need to Know About the Pier 70 Rehabilitation Project

Pier 70 Redevelopment

Pier 70 is a collection of buildings along the waterfront in the Dogpatch/Central Waterfront neighborhood. But Pier 70 isn't just any collection of dilapidated buildings - Pier 70 represents "the most intact 19th century industrial complex west of the Mississippi River, containing a rich collection of resources, and provides a physical record expressing continuity with past trends in industrial architecture and design." But hopefully these buildings won't be neglected … [Read more...]
